Locals urged to take part in “land art competition” for this year’s Tour de Yorkshire
Community groups, schools, farmers, landowners and businesses are amongst those being encouraged by East Riding of Yorkshire Council to get involved in the 2016 Tour de Yorkshire land art competition “Lining the Route”.
A big part of the cycling legacy of the Grand Depart and the Tour de Yorkshire has been the fabulous land art on display as helicopters following the peloton pick out creative displays lining the routes throughout Yorkshire.
This year, Beverley hosts the start of the Tour de Yorkshire and riders will race through lots of other East Riding hamlets, villages and towns, including Cherry Burton, Etton, South Dalton, Holme-on-the-Wolds, Middleton-on-the-Wolds, Market Weighton, Holme-on-Spalding-Moor, Foggathorpe, Harlthorpe and Bubwith. As the world watches on, the council is sure locals in East Riding will pull together to ensure a truly memorable event.
Voting will take place during the Tour and for a few days afterwards, before the top five will be announced and the winner will be presented with a ‘Lining the Route’ trophy.
